It's been my contention all along that the Japanese economy was a timebomb. The best they could do was hang on as long as they could and HOPE some of the bad stuff unwinds. Unfortunately the rest of the world could force their hand...

According to Harry Dent, Jr. in his book "The Coming Boom", published in 1993, Japan had sealed her fate by mortgaging the future with rapid growth in maturing industries. The Japanese tend not to be entreprenuerial or independent thinkers. This is their strength and weakness. Dent feels Japan will not recover for many years.
