Pat: Thanks for the links
The company said that they delayed Banshee in order to get V2 out, but 3dfx had been developing both products for a long time by then. The simple fact of the matter is that their timeline slipped and they blamed it on changing priorities.

Here's the timeline as I see it:
1st link (Initially) - Banshee in 1Q98, Voodoo2 unknown/afterward
2nd link (Switched) - Voodoo2 in 1Q98, Banshee 2Q98
3rd link (Final) - Voodoo2 1Q98, Banshee 3Q98

I believe them when they say they switched V2 and Banshee priorities, and I'd be interested to see anything that contradicts their public statements to that effect. The links you provided support my interpretation, in my opinion. In the first link they give a target release for Banshee (1Q98) but none for V2 (implying some time afterward.) After that V2 is always first.

Banshee was obviously pushed back from 2Q to 3Q98. However, this is not too bad when looked at this way. So far they've accurately predicted when their *next* product would come out. It's the one *after that* that they goofed by a quarter. I think that this is a forgivable offense.
