Of course, it's all a hunch. I don't think one is coming because the Fed will drop rates rapidly very soon.
At that point, if the economy doesn't perk up...look out! That means we are in a liquidity trap and the whole world will enter hell in a handbasket for a good few years.
I don't think that is really what will happen, though.
The last recession was considerably worse out west...but technically a recession is 3 consecutive quarters of a declining GDP. We only had 2 back then, and 2 quarters AFTER the "bottom", the GDP shot up like a rocket.
That hardly qualifies as a recession, especially when you factor in the low unemployment figures and very low inflation figures.
