Whisper numbers ....where do they come from? One school of thought is from threads like this one!!!Yes..Virginia,..here!Soooo...as posted last time before earnings release...if you dont want to be walking crippled from shooting yourself in the foot.....Don't be blowing these elevated numbers in the wind...Sure we all want high EPS, but our dear DELL will do just fine without any hype from the thread!......just one man's opinion

John, the site Jim gave us has a very bad history and should be considered junk.

There is no whisper number for Dell as it is too early and there will be many reports coming out from other PC companies and research firms to give clearer direction.

Pat

John, tonight MOT started the earnings season on the right foot with their better than expected earnings. If the key tech players can keep up the upside earnings surprise we may get out of this temporary hole. Here are the key earnings report to look at over the next few weeks;

October 13... INTC....expecting $0.78 [INTC has already pre-announced
to the upside]
October 14....CPQ.....expecting $0.06 [CPQ has a very good chance to blow this number out of the water given they need $0.40 plus in the 4th quarter to make their year]
October 20....IBM and MSFT [ I don't know the estimate on IBM but MSFT, who regularly makes or exceeds expectations, has a $0.49 estimate]

If these 4 majors hit or exceed their estimates the markets will react positively given that the Nasdaq has gotten pounded the last few sessions based on earnings fears.

I also believe that if companies like Yahoo!, AOL, Ascend and other 2nd tier tech players come in with strong earnings this should help us tremendously.
