holly let me ask you something. Would you want to commute for 2 hours in a vanpool to work? Does that sound good to you? Quite chic? Huh? Carpools and vanpools are far more effective for the mfg workers anyway, who have fixed schedules, and there arent many in mfg left in N Ca.

The lake around Oracle is a small moat btw. Theres tons of houses in RW shores.

Whoa, holly! I hear the environmentalist are big in CA so Oracles' got to be careful with them too!!! Are you the only one on this thread that actually knows where Oracle is located? Does Silicon Valley have any designer clothing sweat shops? <vbg>

Since Oracle likes the moat architecture, perhaps they should move to Redwood City. Then people could commute across the bridge or by ferry.

Holly,

I think telecommuting would be fantastic. For example, my son works in LA and even though he's not far from his workplace, it would be wonderful if he could put in even 2 days a week at home. Imagine how much the traffic would be diminished if employees had that option. Unfortunately for him, the type of work he does uses bleeding edge computers designing visual fx and I would imagine bandwidth would be a problem for him. Don't see why your average worker in the insurance, medical or financial industries couldn't do their thing at home a few days a week.
