HOUSTON -- Compaq Computer Corp.'s (CPQ) Presario Internet PCs
will be equipped to offer higher-speed Internet access to home users
through a partnership with Bell Atlantic Corp. (BEL).

In a press release Monday, Compaq said its Presario Internet PCs will be
equipped with Bell Atlantic Infospeed Digital Subscriber Line service.

The computer manufacturer said Bell Atlantic currently offers the service in
Washington and Pittsburgh and plans to launch it in other markets through
the end of 1999.

Bell Atlantic and Compaq plan to jointly market and promote the service.
