this is a very well thought out post. to be honest, I have only ever made money with options (and amat is my most successful example) trading in conjunction with the stock, as following the stock gives you a feel for the flow of capital to your selection, you then top up your bet with leverage from options in anticipation of events like earning reports, for a while it was so easy to by AMAT options when tech stocks were selling off taking advantage of Amat's late date. I would also say this, leaps are no less risky that short term options. look at it this way, if I'm right and we go into reccession, theres no way AMAT gonna hit 40 next year, it's far more likely to hit $14.... by the way what happened to jtechkid, our resident market timer
