RE: Don't try to catch a falling knife

It's just a folk saying, but based on practical experience. It all depends on where it's dropped from, and how good a shot you have at catching it. When I drop a knife and let it go, it usually ends up stuck in my big toe. So I have taken to wearing steel-toed boots when I peel a pineapple. When the dog is hanging around (he hates pineapple) and I drop a knife, I try to grab it. I am working on combining steel toed boots for me and a flak jacket for Eddie. But this will turn making a sandwich into a major operation. Having to ring that bell when the knife hits the floor is not going to make it any easier.
