We can thank the media, a la CNBC, and others for "selling" investing in individual companies as an easy and "fun" way to make a quick buck. The commercials are very misleading to the novice. I got sucked in more than once, decided to learn and not churn. Still learning. Many of the so called stock investors with their cheap ETrade accounts will slowly go away in discontent, and sadly much poorer. Even sites like Motley Fool do a disservice by NOT emphasizing how risky it is to invest in individual securities. MAYBE that is one reason why mutual fund managers get paid so much and it is so hard to beat the averages. THE PARTY IS OVER !! (for now) Good Luck ALL
