Let me throw out a possible explanation for the drop in Viagra prescriptions for the week ending 9/25 (perhaps I'm grasping for straws but keep in mind I live in the NYC area). The first two days of the week were SERIOUS Jewish Holidays and at least in the NYC area, lot and lots of docs were not around as well as lots of patients.

Now I realize NY is not the world BUT I'll be curious to see what the numbers look like for the week ending October 9th . I expect it will be back up there.

Of course, in addition, as has been said many times: Pfizer is not a one drug company. I'll reserve judgement until earnings are out.

Viagra now available in Germany ( Viagra jetzt auch in Deutschland)

Male potency pill Viagra , produced by the US group Pfizer Inc, has been accepted by German pharmacies as from October 1, following Europe-wide authorisation on September 15. A possible market of four million in Germany is estimated. For the current year, Werner Soucup, managing director of German subsidiary Pfizer GmbH, expects the German firm's turnover to grow from DM 791 million to DM 1 billion, although a forecast for the boost which Viagra should provide has not yet been given.

In Germany, the drug must be prescribed by a doctor. The price of a tablet lies between DM 18 and DM 26: the national health service will not take on the costs. Pfizer does not plan legal action against this, but expects complaints from those patients affected. Tests among 500 German patients showed 80-per-cent effectiveness. Mr Soucup warned against the acquisition of the drug via the Internet or via mail order.
