Boris turned back to regard the scene from his window as droplets of rain traced paths down the glass. The shuffling footsteps of his aide barely registered in his thoughts as he stared into the night.

"Sir, what should I do with this body?" inquired the aide as he stooped to regard the fallen man more closely.

"Have him sent to the lab... No doubt he is another victim of the plague brought upon us by those drill core samples from Mars... I curse the day that we began searching for lithium crystals on that bloody red planet".

The aide signaled to have his waiting assistants swiftly remove the soldier's body from the room.

Slowly, Boris raised a hand to his own sweating forehead...
