This really shouldn't surprise you. After all, there was actually very little dislike for the form of government in England. The main dispute the colonists had with England was that the colonists were not given the same rights as the people living in England. Many of the founding fathers were trained in English law, and that's the only form they really knew or respected. They tweaked it to make it more applicable to the American experience, but overall, they liked English law.
