Masters Joins Liberty Interactive (Cable World)
Lee Masters has landed at Liberty Media.

The president and CEO of E!, upon the completion of his contract at year's end, will head Liberty Interactive, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Liberty Media, aimed at creating content designed to capitalize on the capabilities of advanced set-top box and other convergence technology.

As president and CEO, Masters will be charged with leading internal development, acquisitions and partnership activities of the unit.

Bruce Ravenel, Tele-Communications Inc.'s VP-interactive ventures, was named EVP and chief technology officer.

As part of the formation of its wholly owned subsidiary, Liberty Media will transfer its 86% interest in TCI Music, comprising the Box music network, DMX satellite audio channels, and SonicNet, a group of music-oriented Web sites, to Liberty Interactive.

"Our goal is to generate compelling, mouth-watering programming for niches and sub-niches that are currently not on cable, for people who want to watch TV that way," said Masters.
