Wal-Mart says Sept. same-store sales up

BENTONVILLE, Ark., Oct. 6 (Reuters) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the nation's largest retailer, said Tuesday that total store sales for the five-weeks ended October 2 rose 9.5 percent while sales at its Wal-Mart division rose 9.0 percent.

Total company store net sales for the period rose 15.5 percent to $12.38 billion from $10.72 billion in the comparable period a year earlier, the company said in a statement.
