Pat,

no mistake made. It boils down to how you 'refer'. For example:

Is Great Britian different from England?...or is it the United Kingdom?

Is a Brit different than an Englishman? No. Just ask 007. :)

You see, the British and their colonies, of which Canada was once a British colony, have many different references of how they are referred to depending on what part of the world you are from.

In any event, it is indeed a touchy subject for those in the country, and mistaking one for a "Scotsman" or "Irishman" is something you definately do NOT want to do!
