j_b.. your last post was well written, yet the points of comparison are obvious but wrong. Its that simple... Germany was coming out of a depression and was under huge reparation payments for losing WWI, the country was ripe for promises. Hitler promised employment, power, a way for the German people to reassert their place in the world. It was a sick combination of racism, nationalism and an internal campaign of fear and propaganda. You keep wanting to use the worst of comparisions that someone else came up with.. it doesn't work any more than saying horses and quarters are the same because they have tails. <g> Secondly, Americans are not as stupid as you're making them out to be. Clinton's following is more complex than people being Democrats, being stupid, being blind to how he's lied, or seeing through economic issues. Some people just don't want the American system to suffer an impeachment for the reasons provided in the Starr report. They may not even want Clinton to stay in office, which is my thinking, but they're unwilling to see it happen this way. Despite there being perjury, some don't see all perjury as being equal no matter how many lawyers, judges and politicians talk about rule of law the whole of it doesn't rise to the level of overthrowing the will of the people. Difficult to understand eh? Its a big country.. and its certainly not Germany or Iran or Iraq.. have a little respect for your fellow countrymen.
