<<The business model for Globastar has always been to set up a U-tube type satellite system using local established phone service providers to promote the local service. The service was seen as having customers both in places where no service, wireline or wireless, exists, as well as a supplement to wireless services when your phone is out of range (in the wilds of Schuylkill County). It is my understanding that the Globalstar handset type phones will first search for a wireless carrier signal and if none is found, will then go to the satellite carrier which will take the signal and bounce it back to earth to the local carrier which will then transmit it to its destination.>> This is my understanding, too.
