If the Democrats keep up this nonsense that repeated felonies needn't be punished then by God they can fairly be called the party of criminals. Look at what they are defending! Democrats declare themselves the party of crime. 10/6/98 Sean Peck In the most blatantly self-serving and despicable official act to occur in the halls of Congress since the McCarthy era, democrats on the Judiciary committee yesterday disgraced themselves, their party, their responsibility, the public and this nation in a display of partisanship that insulted the very foundations and integrity of this nation and her government. With straight faces and rhetoric speaches they mocked the responsibility of the committee they sit on. These members of the Judiciary committee turned their back on the constitution, history, precidence, their oaths of office and ultimately justice. They argued that a president who commits feloneous acts while in office, that were not related in any way to his official duties, should not be removed from office. To drive home their utter contempt for the law, they stood together, solidly voting against recommending to the house to further investigate the allegations. They took this action not because the evidence of the allegations was insufficient, the proponderence of credible evidences shows the accused is likely repeatedly guilty of the crimes, but merely because the accused was the head of their party. With that vote, the Democrats on the Judiciary stated loud and clear to everyone watching, that the Democratic party is now the party of Crime, period. The actions of the committee democrats are the self serving acts of those who wish to protect their own, and snub the law. Our nation has had to deal with these groups before, they have existed since this nation was founded, and our collective answer to them is that NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW. Yesterday one of the major parties of the nations political process publicly declared that they believe that their leader is indeed above the law, and they would commit any travesty neccessary to keep it that way. Make no mistake, no matter how much they intend to spin, their actions in that committee room yesterday were no different than those of an southern all white jury finding a white man not guilty of a lynching of a black man in 1930s in spite of the mountains of evidence proving the case. The shame they brought to that room, I pray will not be repeated again. They attempted jury nullification, ignored the law, and as such declare themselves the party of Crime. I have never agreed with the democrats political philosophies and agendas, but have respected them because I honestly believed they were engaging in activities they felt were in the best interests of the nation, or quite simply I did not agree with their approach, but never questioned their integrity. After yesterday I can no longer make that statement. They clearly acted in their own best interests, and ignored completely the constituional duty they are obligated to. They ignored the law and showed that they are indeed without integrity. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
