Chicago Fed Moskow sees 1998 US GDP around 3.0 pct

CHICAGO, Oct 6 (Reuters) - Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago President Michael Moskow said Tuesday he sees no sign of an impending U.S. recession as Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth is expected to run at around 3.0 percent this year.

''I don't see any evidence of a recession in the numbers we have seen or forecasts or anecdotal information,'' Moskow said in answer to a question after addressing the Association of College and University Business Officers.

Moskow further said he estimated U.S. GDP growth would come in at around 3.0 percent this year and at between 2.0 and 2.5 percent in 1999.
