Although it's very much not their style, a lot could be said for a hostile (if necessary) cash tender offer for Cien at say 20% above current Cien trading prices. No? It has become clear that Cien's lead is evaporating. Also that margins in Cien's business are (correspondingly) coming down. However, optical technology is a big chunk of the telecom future. The real money is probably in a optical cross connect switching package. I wonder if the technology the Cien does have couldn't help Tlab go there. So long as Tlab doesn't have to pay too much for Cien's ongoing wave channel business, which is looking a lot less robust than it looked six months ago. Doug
