Nixon, Carter, Reagan, and Bush (despite the Beijing massacre occurring on his watch), all worked to build up economic and political ties with Red China. (The U.S. has a long and inglorious history of cavorting with despots when it suited its financial needs.) As for the allegation that Clinton indirectly received political money from China, nothing has yet to be proven. Merely allegations. If in fact he did knowingly accept money from the Chinese government and it can be proven in a court of law (as opposed to the witch hunt atmosphere of most conservatives discussions on the matter), I would call that an impeachable offense. But to condemn Clinton because of his good ties with one of the countries on our most favored nation list, albeit one with an abysmal human and civil rights record, demonstrates at the very least a selective memory and at worst a lack of intellectual integrity.
