I agree with you. I think IDT's x86 efforts are doomed. They had been in this thing for at least 2+ years with at least another year before they can show anything approaching 300mHz. IMHO, that's really curtains time. They should just do some deal and sell the core to somebody else e.g. IBM. But then, who would want to buy a core that's proven to be slow?!

Anyway, why Acer when they are writing of hundred of millions up in Oregon?! Perhaps if the core works at Acer, Acer might be dumb enough to buy it.

Can we say the only hope left is ClearLogic, of which we have not heard anything about in the last few months except that they hit the wrong density?

FIFOs and fast SRAMs are not really growing markets. FCTs are also limited. How about their RISC efforts?
