Still learning- A rough way of looking at Tellab's exposure in the verious regions is something like USA=65%,Europe=15%,Latin America=10%,Canada=5%,Asia = less than 4%,China = <1%,Russia= less than 1%.
These figures are rough, but in the ballpark. They are trying to develop presence in China,Asia, and other developing areas. Part of reason of getting Coherent was to aid international sales.
When you have 1/2 the world in a recession, then obviously, sales will be affected. Upgrades on existing previosly sold Titan's was about 65% of Titan sales dollars last year.
It's my understanding that they choose to do battle in only certain areas, and in those areas they want to be on top of the technical curve and give the very best customer care possible.
Their long term goal is to be one of top 3 or 4 telecom. eqt. providers in the world by the year 2004, and this would mean sales of about $4-6 billion annually, up from $1.2 billion currently, so they don't intend to sit on their hands.
