What exactly do you think is different from the Watergate days?

This has been discussed on many of the political talk shows. The difference today is the partisanship... not sure when this started, if its a Clinton thing or what. But, aparently in the Watergate days the two parties could trust one another in judgement. Now they cant - and the dems feel the republicans will attempt to bring down the president - on any issue, at any cost - and thats exactly what has happened.

In Watergate, they didn't start on Gerald Ford as soon as he replaced Nixon; that is the big difference. After they get finished with Gore; you can be sure as hell they will start on the next person. Why? Because they keep a big money system of politics going, the Republican's, and it makes for a real mess and then what they do is parse through that mess and hang anything that looks questionable on the candidate which is always a Dem since they are in control of Congress and can do this. I don't think anyone could run without some corner of the donation pool having some bad apple tossed in somewhere and then they point to that and say the candidate is a criminal. Just watch. They are all geared up to start on Gore next.
