Ancor Communications Signs New Japanese Distributor

PR Newswire - October 06, 1998 15:15

MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Ancor Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: ANCR), a leading Fibre Channel switch
provider, today announced that it has entered into an exclusive partnership with Netmarks, Inc., a leading Japanese supplier of
network integration services, to distribute Ancor Fibre Channel switches to storage system providers and end users. Netmarks
replaces Hucom as Ancor's distributor in Japan. Netmarks, with approximately $100 million in annual revenues, is a joint venture
formed by Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd., Nomura Research Institute Ltd., NEC Corporation, and Sumitomo Denetsu Co., Ltd.

Netmarks previously partnered with Hucom at Ancor's largest Japanese Fibre Channel installation, and has retained key technical
talent from Hucom to assist with sales and support in Japan. "Our goal was to make the transition from Hucom to Netmarks as
seamless as possible for our customers," said Tsuyoshi Sugawa, Netmarks' Managing Director.

Ken Hendrickson, Ancor's CEO, said, "We are proud to be associated with a company of Netmarks' stature in Japan. They have
a long track record of delivering excellent network solutions to their customers and will be terrific representatives for Ancor's
Fibre Channel solutions."
