Alex,

It appears both of our minds landed in the same place: Taoism. It works for me because it is so non-specific, and it is non-specific because it relies on the poetry of natural metaphor. This allows the mind (at least mine) to find resonance in the notion of our inability to comprehend the full nature of God, yet still acknowledges Him (yeah, yeah pronouns, schmonouns) as being evidenced by the observable processes of the physical world.

Belief, though, is still the lynchpin.

Rick

p.s. E., and others, I admit I occasionally road the short yellow bus to logic school, and this is an unwieldy subject, so I appreciate third party correction when appropriate.

Alex what a great choice of words. As a fellow hylozoist it's comforting to know there is at least one of similar mind. As an 11th grade droput my choice of words fails to convey my thought most of the time. I am not qualified to discuss physics although I do understand the Greek mysticism fairly well.

Roman Christianity by expansion and enforcement pretty well destroyed the wisdom of the mysteries in the western world. The Hindus and Taoists have kept alive in the East.

I too have had a mystical union with God but only one time and without drugs. It came about with no effort on my part or thoughts of God. I was thoroughly brainwashed in Christianity at the time. I could not at that time tell my closest friends for fear they would think me crazy and have me committed.

I went thru a period afterward trying to explain it away with denial but as you know from experience that is impossible. That is what started me on my search fot TRUTH to replace the false truth of my brainwashing as a child.

Please continue your explanations for there is a trend away from religion and a general search for TRUTH.

Again thanks for a wonderful post.

Alex, speaking of scientific discovery. Here's a funny one....

A scientist trained a flea to jump on the command "jump". Then the scientist conducted some experiments on the flea. He removed the flea's front legs. On the command "jump", the flea jumped, but not as far as before. Removal of the middle legs cut the distance further. Finally, the scientist removed the remaining two legs and commanded "jump." The flea did not move. Over and over again came the command "jump", and still no movement.

Then the scientist solemnly recorded his conclusion: "Removal of the flea's legs impairs his hearing." :-)

Scientific interpretation must be fun!

Michael

And now for something completely different (from the black humor department):

Green Bay, WI -- (Sept 23) -- There's a growing movement among reincarnate
wannabes to not just be thrown, willy-nilly, into whatever latest, greatest cosmos
was just generated yesterday by this week's Sudden Infinitesimal Disparity In
Symmetric Nothingness Of-The-Month.

"First," said a spokesman for the Union of Concerned Souls Standing In Line
Waiting To Be Reincarnated, "we want 'One Man, One Cosmos,' where every
soul gets its own <bleeping> universe, instead of being packed in like sardines with
hundreds of other messed-up souls in a single crappy universe where the
highest achievement of all information matter and life is just to re-affirm, again
and again, how <bleeping> well sex sells."

According to the spokesman, in the new 'One Man, One Cosmos' cosmos, the history of the world will simply be whatever fills in the blanks,
homeostatically, between you and eternal 2-dimensional nothing.

THE END
