<OT> Les, I dont know the y2k players you mention except cpwr and bmcs which are a little more than y2k. However I never liked y2k sw players in general because I felt they were simply one trick pony consulting houses. I prefer companies that really have a product to sell s/a psft, itwo, manu orcl etc. But just in general terms something is very wrong in sw and Im not sure its all y2k. The fact is, we have no new products like we did in the past, and in this business without new products its tough.... you become a consulting house and then you are no better than the y2k's. Oracle is a little different in that they may be emerging from the dead with 8i and getting a handle on their mgmt problems of the past. Larry is back and thats good for Oracle. (Yes, thats Larry Ellison, the great and nearly perfect individual I am speaking of). Some of course see Larry as a detriment.

If you want to make money in the sector, you can short Jdec or Sap and play the swings.

BTW this depression in the software biz has caused me to reevaluate my priorities and Im thinking of becoming a stay at home mom as soon as I nail one of the guys from the 4th floor of this bldg Im consulting in. Well Ive got to stalk him first I guess - first things first.
