Yah, some Hindus are allowed to eat what dies naturally. Haven't seen them eat people, tho, come to think of it, and I can't quite understand that.

I've seen people lying on the streetside to die. In the middle of Old Delhi, with thousands of people walking around. I watched some from across the street. Wondering. A certain number still starve to death. A high level of activity must be maintained to stay above a certain level.

It's, honestly, fun to see cows on the sidewalk. Different. Like city pets. The cows eat a lot of stuff humans can't, like some leaves and garbage, and convert much to precious cooking fuel. You see dung stacked, drying, in fields, like brown rice cakes. Poorer people, and opportunistic people, use tires and trash for cooking fuel. Much of the total environment is covered with thick, gooey black soot. The food probly runs poor second to Cheez Whiz. Maybe not, tho.

There's not much water to clean anything with. Sleeping happens in shifts in some places, as there are not enough horizontal spaces to lie down. Any vacant space is filled with people, "tent"squatters; even dangerous places, even built out into the open sewers. Some sidewalks are sewers. All gutters are. Exposures to chemicals are everywhere; you can tell, as you walkabout. The air ran my fever to about 102 for several days.

It's different. It gave me pause to wonder what life is about, because here life is about something else.

But then I got on a plane outta there. Had fresh fruit plate and coffee and read a nice book.
