Since the end of 1994 the DOW has been rising in excess of 50% per annum. That isn't the structural growth rate of large companies. The water is all back in the big company stocks. At best the averages can only go sideways as the real economic gains are digested. The stock market approaches a sideways expectation by going up and down. That is called a swing traders market. We saw the left shoulder complete in summer of '97. The move this year is a head, a top, that bags the inured. After the head you get the sell-off. We are completing the sell-off now. Next comes the advance that forms right shoulder(s). When that is complete, you get the downside blast. Only rising interest rates can cause the "Prechter Bust", and it is being cooked up by the best laid plans of banks and men. '99 smells bearish, but not until you get the band wagon loaded again.
