Hello All..

Good numbers from AMD may well be bad news (for a short time) for DELL and Intc. I sold all my DELL today, which should mark the bottom for all you guys, but this down draft feels different to me. I hope to buy back in the $40's.

I think the Long Term Capital disaster is much more troublesome than most people realize.

Any thoughts. I want to be a BULL, but.....

Dave

MD has stated previously that the sub 1K market has been good for Dell as they've observed people "trading up" to Dell as the sub 1K models haven't provided sufficient computing power. many who would not normally purchase a computer purchase the sub $1ks (or they buy the lower end models for their "students"). once they understand the computer's power, they graduate to higher processors and they end up paying santa twice. the more sub 1ks, the better. as for Intel, they're selling nearly as many celerons as AMD is selling k6. the fact that AMD has sold so many this quarter as opposed to last is a testament to the strength of the channel overall. we know that the sub 1K market hasn't been capturing market share the past two quarters, so one would could assume that as the lower end market share grows, so grows the higher end proportionately

the high end market share actually strengthed over the lower end from january through june according to idc
