<<every time one of these "loose canon" Clinton haters posts a note, the Republican Party loses votes towards the November election.>>

I disagree. However, I do think that each one revitalizes an otherwise apathetic or disheartened Democrat, who will then go to the polls and vote. The reason I disagree with your first statement is that each extreme comment by a person on one side seems to result in an equally extreme comment by someone on the other side. Neither side is making any headway with the 'tweeners.

<<More and more the Republican Party is getting the label as "mean spirited", and it seems to fit. >>

And Democrats are being labelled as dishonest and immoral, and it seems to fit <g>. Seriously, both sides look bad in this debate.

<<The main question for November is: Will the silent majority show up at the voting booth, this November, to stop the Republicans from making this a one party, right wing, fundamentalist country? >>

One man's opinion - the scandal will have no effect on the polls, and the Republicans will pick up maybe 2 seats in the Senate and 7 in the House - really no change. There is absolutely no chance that this will become a one-party situation, unless of course you mean either the Republicrats or the Democrablicans.

"...The main question for November is: Will the silent majority show up at the voting booth, this November, to stop the Republicans from making this a one party, right wing, fundamentalist country?..."

Robert,

You must be quite young.

You're parroting the Socialist-Liberal-Democrat Party line spin almost verbatim. The keywords are obvious: Clinton haters, mean tempered, mean spirited, etc.

I hate to burst your bubble... but, we Conservatives ...(Republicans mostly, but it includes many Democrats, Independents, Libertarians and, of course, members of the Reform Party) ARE the Silent Majority you speak of! And... we're never amongst those whose opinions appear in any of the national "polls", apparently.

Your breakfast newspaper on November 4th will chronicle the mood of the Silent Majority much better than any Klintonista spin wizard.

Enjoy.

Robert:

The main question for November is: Will the silent majority show up at the voting booth, this November, to stop the Republicans from making this a one party, right wing, fundamentalist country?

Actually, Robert, the Democrats are doing a fine job of making this a one-party system all by themselves. As of August 8, 1998, 372 elected Democrats have switched over to the Republican Party just since the 1992 elections. The last two were George Kirkpatrick (Florida State Senator) and Doug Peterson (mayor of Bemidji, Minnesota).

You can find them and a few other officials here:
nrcc.org

and the complete list here:
rnc.org

BTW, you never responded to my friendly wager: I'll buy you a Miller Lite for every Democrat who wins a seat in November if you'll buy me an MGD for every Republican who wins one. You may want to check the odds first, though. camelect.com
