I agree about the direction of the dollar. Isn't it possible that it is the Fed's intent to tank the dollar to help the international markets?

Maybe. Currencies are extremely volitile and my opinion(based admitedly on very limited experience ) tends to be that they are moved mostly on short term activities. I've actually thought about buying puts on the DM, SF, FF and BP on a long term basis (looking at Jun 99s and later where available, may hold off until the 00s are on market) on the theory that demand for the national currencies will drop with the introduction of the EMU regardless of pegging. No idea on the US$.
