beyond the obvious deepness of pockets, expertise in management, marketing and shipping books, massive discounts due to economies of scale, and ad $$$ that will be tossed at this, has anyone mulled the implications for amzn's world domination of the internet, particularly in Asia and Europe, where Bertelesmann dominates and has mass brand name exposure (see last months p. A1 WSj piece on the d-t-d bookselling in china, etc. etc.)

and

am i imagining it, or does Bertelesmann own a pretty chunky music business as well (cd's anyone???)
