That was just a courtesy to the CPQ longs. I usually get flamed by the CPQ faithful when I speak evil of CPQ. But the truth is, I think CPQ was also hurt by the sub 1k PC. In spite of CPQ proclaiming the Sub 1k PC as their most profitable PC's, I still believe they shot themselves in the foot. The Sub 1k PC destroyed much of the profitable higher end for CPQ and sparked a price war that nobody is winning. Anyway that is JMO. Perhaps a price war would have been inevitable even if CPQ didn't initiate it.

As far as PC's in general, I think they will continue to be around for quite awhile. They are very useful and now they are cheap. The internet appliances will be sold in addition to the PC but not replace the PC IMO.
