Arnie, I think you are going to be the most surprised person, in the history of mankind, when Tom comes along with an update.

Arnie,
My sources tell me that if "the offer is right" Leyland will never see "Mile High". He signs pretty "smart contracts" with escape clauses. However, my personal choice is Felipe Alou. He might bring Moises with him as he is a free agent. <gg>
An early lead is important, as you very well know. They need a good strong 6 innings out of their starters to match the Braves pitching, good middle relief, and the normal Hoffman scenario. I believe they have won 170+ games in a row when leading after 8 innings.
On another note, a lot of people tend to forget the job that Dave Stewart has done as pitching coach. I first met him when he was a young kid pitching for the Clinton (Iowa) Dodgers in Class A ball. My cousin, Ron Perranoski, was at that time in charge of all minor league pitchers in the Dodger farm system before becoming their Major League pitching coach. We sat in the stands behind home plate and Ron had a stop watch to time his motion to home plate in order to see if he was holding runners on properly. Just one little thing a pitching coach looks for amongst many. He (Ron) told me that the Dodgers have a rating system with 80 being the top number. I asked him what 80 meant??? Answer--we base everything on Koufax--Koufax being the 80. He rated Stewart a 79. I guess he was proven pretty accurate. We did have lunch with Stewart and another young prospect (can't remember who--showing my age) the next day and I was amazed at this kid's (Stewart) grasp of what Ron was talking to him about. It does not surprise me one iota that he is now a pitching coach himself. People should recognize him for the great job he has done. Just my random thoughts.
Have a great night at the game when they come to San Diego. Hopefully you'll be at least 1-1 by the time they get there.
Brad
