>>What busines are you in that causes such giga data xmissions?<<

I'm a scientific programmer. I work with huge quantities of
satellite data on the environment. This data is used
by many scientists all over the world so they can do research
in their respective fields. I mainly maintain a huge database
of satellite data. I also work with images a lot. So
all the data objects are huge, and I swap them back and
forth from lots of different places.

I'm sure that banks, insurance companies, financial institutions,
etc. are all maintaining bigger and bigger databases. Some
companies may have up to a terabyte of data which it shares
with hundreds of its business branchs all over the world.
Companies are in desperate need of better ways to pump big
huge database information to each other. The companies
that can do this will be able to create many new products,
reduce costs, and stay above the competition. Any company
that's information intensive, and not already being tied to the internet is a "dead" company, IMO.
