Dwight - the IMF funding proposal has strings attached. I'm interested you say that the Japanese depression was predicted 'years ago' - not by many - most are now wise after the event - precious few said anything before. You sound like an establishment junkie! E

WASHINGTON, Oct 7 (Reuters) - The White House believes it has made some progress in talks to win congressional support to give $18 billion to the International Monetary Fund but said on Wednesday there
was still some distance to go.

''We still have some distance to go but I think we're making some progress on that,'' White House spokesman Joe Lockhart told
reporters at his daily briefing.
