Everyone: I think we should be tremendously pleased with COM$ relative performance.

Name me any other tech stock that has not been absolutely crushed in this market? Look at DELL,LU, CSCO, MSFT, FOREetc., etc. And COM$ is up! Awesome and a good indicator of how this stock will soar when the market finally turns.

joe: Thanks but it doesn't wash in light of the optimism shared by yourself and others re: COMs and the whole digital revolution. Actually the Bells are now moving into the ADSl area quite agressively (for them) and they will need all the bandwidth that they can supply in the coming years starting now. The challenge with fixed plant is to wring more revenues out of each twisted pair and fibreoptic thread that hangs on a pole. If they don't do it now they will be passed by by cable cos. and wireless cos. This is a firstest with the mostest thing. I really believe that there is something wrong in the CIEN situation and not being able to put my finger on it caused me to bail out of it today.

Concerning the entire industry we seem to have two views emerging. 1. The analysts view- the market will not be growing 2. The industry view - the market is poised for huge growth. I don't know who can survive without being able to move data around fast whether it be trucking companies or advertising agencies. I can't believe that things are as gloomy as the analysts portray the outlook to be. But the wisdom is don't fight the tape. So do you get out and get back in as it is easier to do so nowadays with minute transaction costs or do you risk more down drafts or miss an upward move because you were out?

This is a market driven by a new set of fundamentals none of which have any connection to technology or the merits of the various cos. It all seems to be driven by geo-political forces that are in most cases immaterial to the well being of many of the companies on these various boards outside of the markets their shares trade in and there is the rub.

Now that I am out of CIEN it will probably explode upward while COMS sits here picking its nose. But on a day like this I have to say COMS did all right.
