So AMD is shipping the K6-2 400 MHz ("shipping" in industry parlance--even including Jerry-speak--does not mean providing samples).

If you were keeping tabs that means:

AMD IS ONE SPEED GRADE BEHIND INTEL. AND CLOSING.

Yousef better get on the ball over there at Intel. Better get cracking on those low-k dialetics, Yousef. Looks like you're going to need them sooner than expected.

Question - with INTEL patenting - not the chip but the mount - how is this going to affect AMD?

They can use the super 7 socket now but to make a chip that will fit in the new INTEL socket, they will have to pay INTEL.

Going to be interesting - seems INTEL has not learned over the years that virtually everyone that has tried to make something propritary in the computer industry has gone down in smoke!

Milk:

<<My guess is $2.5 on 95,000,000 volume.>>

If you are right I will declare bankruptcy and never to return to Wall Street again and the Priest can roam AMD thread without opposition. I'll get a job pumping gas out in the corn field. Life would be just wonderful.
