Argentine shares slip after Brazil says no package

BUENOS AIRES, Oct 7 (Reuters) - Argentine shares slipped lower Wednesday afternoon echoing falls in Brazil and New York after Brazil's President Cardoso said there would be no immediate fiscal package to shore up the country's economy.

Traders also pointed to the U.S. dollar's sudden slide, bringing it to an 11-month low against the yen.

The MerVal index of most traded shares was down 3.25 percent at 356.88 points at 1602 local/1902 GMT in thin volume of 15.7 million pesos.

Cardoso did say in a speech claiming his re-election victory that there was a three-year plan in the works.
