<<Cover stories like the one on the current Newsweek "The Crash of '99?"...>>

This is extremely bullish, imo.

" In short, it all becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy. I'm not sure Brinker's model, or any model, can account for such behavior. "

Mr. Market. Mr. Market. Mr. Market!

Bob: Nice post. As I have stated previously, I am in agreement with you on the issue of whether a model can account for emotions. I think there is the possibility that as we go though earnings season, people will come to the conclusion that the US is not going into the crapper and we will also come to the conclusion that the Fed. is on our side of the market. While the news cycle cannot be forecasted, I think overall it will get better. Japan is continuing to make strides in its banking sector albeit at a slow pace. IMF funding should materialize from the US. Hopefully, we will get a package together for Brazil. The elections should give us some direction on the White House issue. I think we have discounted the bad news on these issues but I will say that in the event one of these issues blows up in this environment of fear, the market will do what the market will do.

Bob, in times like this it is comforting to read someone who expresses my own situation exactly. It is helpful to know that others are approaching this market the same way.

I hope we find the right entry point. I have done a small amount of bargain hunting, but plan to primarily dollar cost average in over a number of months, maybe 12 or more months, unless it becomes extremely clear that a bottom has been made.
