I haven't seen anyone mention the obvious about the conference call. If QCOM had any announcement about earnings being off of schedule, it would have come out by now. So, the earnings picture must be OK.

The teleconference this afternoon by Dr. Jacobs CEO of QUALCOMM assured the investor community of QUALCOMM'S mission to protect its intellectual property. This is important in light of all the inaccurate statements made by the European GSM companies and their alliances. We have heard there propaganda for several months from many sources. This is the first time we've heard from the CEO of QUALCOMM in a public forum on the subject of Next Generation CDMA Technology. There continues to be a lot of posturing by the European alliance and with good reason, theY stand to lose a lot. Dr. Jacobs made it Plain and simple if they proceed with wide band CDMA without a license from QUALCOMM we will litigate.

The company remains in the cat bird seat and will capitalize on convergence or without convergence . The European vendors realize they're weak position and no doubt will negotiate if they can.The
market for code division multiple access products will continue to build wealth for the companies with CDMA licenses. The European companies will feel the pressure as the current markets grow bigger for code division multiple access and the next generation Code Division multiple access 2000 takes shape.

QUALCOMM has done incredibly well commercializing Code Division multiple access and all the fundamentals are in place for a tremendous growth phase ,leveraging their licensees against the European proposal for WCDMA. QUALCOMM has a strategy that will work and Europe knows it. Dr. Jacobs has let them know in no uncertain terms that they have been put on notice to license Code Division Multiple Access or be left hopelessly behind the wireless data revolution.
