I agree with Lupins.

The Rabins never did anything with SQ inc. In fact their background is about as far from Internet applications as it could be. They control the $, not SQ inc.

The Rabins don't like trade shows (I've never heard of Alpha Software exhibiting at a trade show) so the Rabins probably think trade shows are a waste of money, something they don't have much of right now.

If you need additional evidence, have you EVER seen an print ad for an Alpha product? Nope, they don't do that. Weird if you ask me, but when you think that they come from a company that was successful in the days when direct marketing worked, you have at least some explanation for their marketing style. Glitzy boxes, ZERO advertising, and direct marketing is ALL they do as far as marketing is concerned. All of this points to a fear of engaging in a competitive marketplace. Too risky I suppose. So don't be surprised when SQ inc doesn't show up at trade shows.

Hotmetal 5 promise to be an excellent product. I use Hotmetal 4 for many reasons and the new UI/ sitebuilder/ XML stuff puts Hotmetal way ahead of the pack. Will they get the recognition? I doubt it. Why? Because the Rabins don't have the experience or focus to market products in a competitive way.

I believe that SQ, and Alpha (not the crap they are licensing, but what they have actually developed themselves) have produced some of the finest and easiest to use applications to date. The failure has been the same. Fear of success.

[everything] certainly suggests it has been sold.
