She graduated in the lower 1/4 of her class at Stanford and was immediately placed in the management slot that led to her eventual board position (VP mfg was her first job I think). Apple hired other MBAs that year who graduated above Ms. Coleman. Many of her professors even expressed outrage that she would be given this post. I dont know, Im just reiterating what I have read on the topic. My point was Oracle was a better place in general for women. The women they picked as leaders at Oracle really delivered as the years went by. Not Debi - no one knows what happened to her. Shes no Katrina Garnett. She might be running a company, but not a significant one. This from the first woman to ever sit on the board of a fortune 500 company - ever.

I think this is all I want to say on this subject - may I suggest you surf the web for more details on this topic if you are interested, I am simply restating conventional wisdom.
