Kevin:

If you are just down slightly you are almost surely doing
well compared to anyone who did not own things like internet
stocks and their ilk this year.

I would really not reevaluate a strategy at the height of a bear market - since that seems to me the wrong time to be second guessing oneself. So much of what is going on is predicated on fear that any
basis of honest to goodness valuation bases is clouded. Personally I too am big time schrewed but I just ignore it - if you ignore pain it does not exist <g>.

If I do get margin calls then so be it - the evil bear market has
beaten me and that's life. Take the licks and move on. BUT I just
cannot see why I should join the other panicking hordes. The sell
will be the sign of "GAME OVER" for me. I'm not going to be selling
to fight another day. Yes I am setting myself up for big time trouble. BUT the valuations are ridiculous and too compelling for me to chicken out and give way to fear - besides fear I do not know <g>.

The other important lesson I have learnt is that when on margin there is no point chasing the home run balls - those itty bitty singles and doubles become leveraged home-runs.

As far as the tech world goes, there have been pick ups in networking,
communications and of course the PC area. DRAM lead times are up
considerably compared to the lead times of the last couple of years. This is amazing to me but of course everyone else
is running scared because of the R word. And I do think that something
like the R thing is indeed possible & heck very likely quite frankly - the banks are schrewed and that is never a good thing - nevertheless my stocks are remarkably good investments priced at valuations that happen once every bear market or so and so I will have to go down fighting and screaming but I just can't be a part of the fleeing masses.

Fear sucks.

Shane.
