Dixon, thanks for the nice words. I am also invested heavily long in a company where I personally know the management and have visited the company many times. I have tested their product and believe it has great potential. And I probably defend too vigorusly when the company is attacked. But the market has not agreed with my view and the stock price is down 50%. You might look at FSTW thread.

Fortunately I did foresee the current market troubles and FSTW is my only significant remaining long position. (Why I thought FSTW would be immune to the market crash is now a mystery) As someone else suggested, I have been rotating out of small cap shorts (covered part of OCOM short today) and am now shorting some high fliers as the crash "matures". Recent shorts are AMZN, YHOO, CTXS. Dell and MSFT may be next.

Look at techstocks.com for my picks on July 21st, click on performance to see the results to date. Note that all positions are short. A part of those profits were consumed by my FSTW long position losses.(My REFR short position has recently increased)

After all of our debate on REFR, my opinion is that the financing is not a good thing and that the chances of technology success anytime soon are far from a sure thing. My short is likely to win, but I will be dodging bullets on the off chance REFR technology does turn out a winner and will switch to long side. In the mean time I am creating cheap shares for those of you who have a more positive outlook for REFR.

Thanks for the constructive debate and I will not post much on this thread unless there is new REFR news to be discussed.

N. Dixon,

I am actually quite elated to the presence of Mrs. Payne! Now that she is here I am quite positive we have all found a good Co.

People don't always get what they want....but they ALWAYS get what they deserve.

Long or short-

The future is HERE and a product is IMMENANT!

F~

ND -

Well put. The point of posting is to share information, not to scream obscenities or attempt to influence the stock price. We all agree that if REFR succeeded with generating revenue from the SPD technology that investors stand to make a profit. If the technology fails, then they will lose. That's true with any company, it's just that in this case is an all-or-nothing sort of proposition. My strong opinions about the financials were to counter the case that REFR shareholder were going to profit from some sort of perverse price manipulation.

If a short position were taken on REFR, and then the technology succeeded, the subsequent loss would be a cost of doing business - just like when a long position goes bankrupt. Obviously the theoretical losses of a short are unlimited, whereas a long position can only go to zero, so such positions are not recommended for amateurs. The market also has a general upward bias, so random shorting of stocks is a sure lose.

I am an entrepreneur first and an investor second. I wish REFR all the best in succeeding with their endeavors.

If you can rally together the other longs to put together the know facts about REFR and the potential facts (rumors, whispers, etc.) for the rest of us to discuss without having to dig through the entire thread that would be great. If we can estimate the potential future value of REFR technology (total sales, royalty percentages, ramp up curves) and then also estimate the chances that they will succeed, based on the facts know so far, everyone will be more informed.

Best Regards,

Jon
