You may well be right about that. His bio says he went to the Sorbonne, and why heck I did too last time I was in Paris. I didn't get a degree though while I was there. I wonder if he did. I did note that in his interview, when he was talking about his qualifications he said he was an "Engineer" with the Carborundum Corporation travelling around the Amazon looking for mineral resources. Looks like he learned a lot from those Indians. Maybe they gave him a Doctorate.
