Wall street has a tradition of strongly supporting
companies that make things affordable for people.
70 dollars a month is a really good deal for the
"high end user", but that's just a small percentage
of people. For every person that uses 400 minutes
a month, there must be 50 that use 50-100 minutes per
month. With the only independent national footprint,
not to go after those customers (even if customers
purchase phones) is not really going after competition.
Remember, AOL languished in the teens and twenties for
a long time, too--right until they came out with the
unlimited plan. Charlies Ergen is doing the same thing
for DISH--trying to make it affordable for everybody--
even giving the dishes to his customers.
