Tell me, what is it like to live in an industrial colony of the empire when the empire decides not to buy anything from you ? (^_^)

seriously - biggest problem I see coming at us is soaring unemployment throughout the EU. This has always been the achilles heel of the Union IMHO. One -in- Four out of work in the EU is quite likely by QTR-1 1999. Workers will pressure their (local) politicians for welfare/supports, further draining credit liquidity and stressing the centralized EU authority.

The worker supports, health care and mobility are a lot better in The States than in the EU - this whole idea that workers are better off within EU democratic socialism is a cruel illusion. Layoffs over in the States have already started, BTW - should accelerate smartly post-Christmas retail season.

The EU framework glossed-over the nationalistic questions of social welfare supports - leaving it de-centralized. It could be total chaos in Europe, trying to deal with One -in- Four unemployment, a stalled export-dependent economy, and little or no new kapital investment.

Fortunately, we have a two-year crop surplus.
