Newsflash ***Thomas Haegin sees boom times ahead ***

Thomas Haegin has forecast a growing economy in 1999, becoming the first man to predict an upturn in the U.S. economy next year. He says he expects the economy to stay even in the first quarter of 1999 and then rise at a 2% annual rate in the second quarter and a 1% rate in the third quarter. Haegin cites improving export markets, a lesser than expected squeeze on corporate profits, stable stock prices and an easing of bank lending standards as some of the reasons for its expansion forecast.
